  • Sport for the Visully Impaired

ESAB provides and liaises with others to offer a range of sporting activities. You can try Rifle shooting, New age Curling, bowling and many others. Contact our Office for more details.

Suffolk Sight is the new sight-loss charity for Suffolk, created by amalgamating the East Suffolk Association for the Blind with West Suffolk Sight. Its purpose is to improve the lives of people who are affected by sight loss throughout Suffolk.

Over the coming months we will be integrating the operations of the two charities, so please bear with us as we do this.

We will be having a new Suffolk Sight website launching soon. In the interim East Suffolk Association for the Blind and West Suffolk Sight's websites and information on our services will still be available.

***** Please see the news item below in the "what are we up to" section of this page for an important message for our members about COVID-19 (Coronavirus) *****

East Suffolk Association for the Blind

The Association works across East Suffolk from Shotley in the south to Lowestoft in the north and from the coast inland as far as Eye.  As a charity, we raise all of our funds ourselves and use them to provide support for around 1,400 local blind and partially sighted people in East Suffolk.

The Association aims to provide welfare across the age spectrum, but inevitably the vast majority of our members are over 80 years of age.  We do not currently deliver services specifically for children and young people.  However we do signpost parents and carers to other organisations who cater for them, including voluntary organisations, local authorities, education and library departments, and carer organisations.

We work closely with Sensing Change who are the Sensory Services team in Suffolk County Council that provide statutory services such as social work and rehabilitation to people with sight and/or hearing loss throughout Suffolk.  We  also work with national charities for the visually impaired such as the Royal National Institute for the Blind, Guide Dogs for the Blind and Blind Veterans (UK).
